I
stand before you all today
But
not one eye can see my way
My
time arrived, to leave this earth
A
fact so planned, to every birth
It
happened where I had to go
My
torch for life was so aglow
I
transferred while in uniform
Protecting freedom, through a storm
Should I resent I died for you?
Not
on my life, red white and blue
Please help my family thru each day
Tell
all my friends, try not to stray
And
of the country I did love
Do
think of me, through God above
Your
memories, brought forth this day
Send
love to us, who could not stay.

In
Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between
the crosses, row on row,
That
mark our place; and in the sky
The
larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We
are the Dead, Short days ago
We
lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In
Flanders fields.
Take
up our quarrel with the foe!
To
you from failing hands, we throw
The
torch-Be yours to hold it high!
If
ye break faith with us who die.
We
shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In
Flanders fields.
Captain John D. McCrea

THE WW II MEMORIAL
It’s been a long time coming
And it is way overdue
This Memorial to Honor Heroes
Who died during World War II.
On the Mall in Washington
There’s a curving Wall of
Stars
Marking four hundred thousand
Dead
Plus those Survivors healing
scars.
Sixteen million Served
In all the Military ways
With only four million left
And most, with numbered days.
Most Americans today
Don’t know how close we came
To the tides turning against
us
But for, those Battles in our
name.
A Tribute we owe all Those
Who paid the Ultimate Price
And it’s better late than
never
To Honor their Supreme
Sacrifice.
So many of those Veterans say
That was the last, "Military
War"
The clear danger to our
Nation
Was what, They were fighting
for.
Now, They will never be
forgotten
Immortalized within that
Stone
Gathered together in one
place
So, They will never be alone.

We
can put the
"Memorial" back in Memorial Day
By
Visiting cemeteries and placing flags or
flowers by our fallen hero's
Flying the US Flag at half-staff until noon and
flying the POW/MIA Flag as well
Participate in a National Moment of Remembrance
at
3p.m. to pause and think upon the meaning of
the
day, and wait for Taps to be played.
Renewing a pledge to aid the widows, widowers,
and
orphans of our fallen dead, and to aid the disabled
veterans.
Take
the time to Thank A Veteran.
